My project for your health.

About Bienestar60+

My name is Carmen María Pérez Velázquez. I have resided in Puerto Rico since 1962. I am a Gerontologist, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Public Health Specialist and Assistant Professor at the University of Puerto Rico (Río Piedras and Medical Sciences Campuses).

Academic preparation: I have a Graduate Certificate in Gerontology (2023), a Doctorate in Public Health with a specialty in Social Determinants of Health (2017), an Internship in Public Policy (2017), an Internship in Dietetics (1992), a Master of Science in Health Health in Nutrition (1988) and a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics (1986). I have 30 years of professional experience and license to practice as a Dietitian Nutritionist in Puerto Rico and the US.

Before being a gerontologist and public health specialist, I was a dietitian nutritionist. Studying nutrition and dietetics allowed me to combine my passion for helping others, science, and food. I'm excited to help people throw away diet rules and rediscover the joy of eating. My goal is to help my readers foster a healthier relationship with food and improve their well-being. I have always believed in the power of basics to nourish our body, mind and spirit.
